What. A. Mess.
That is what most staff think with the departure today of CEO Lin Homer. The most instant quote we received today was “demolition, dame-hood, departure”.
A complete failure to understand the workings of our jobs and tasks led , at best , to grave errors in tactical and strategic thinking underlined by the inability of those around the CEO to either speak the truth or the collective failure to also understand the truth. We hope that decisions that were made had no political interference in being reached - which make them all the more concerning.
Will the new CEO take the time to revisit the plans, talk to the real staff and their representatives and where necessary steer HMRC away from doing a “Titanic”? We hope so.
There are no fond words of farewell.
If you want representatives that understand your work and the very serious issues the department faces from ill conceived and frankly idiotic plans – then join us today. We will be your voice as we have only one objective – you – the HMRC staff.
